There was a clear choice to be made between participating in the festival or trying to photograph it… I chose to participate.

Nothing is safe. Everything gets colored. If you don’t want to “Play Holi” or “Make Holi” as the Indians say then stay inside. The best plan is to wear clothes you can throw away and just plan on having your skin and hair looking like a clown for a few days-weeks. The powder doesn’t really clean off easily and there is nothing the Indian kids like more than a blonde canvas to attack.  There was a clear choice to be made between participating in the festival or trying to photograph it… I chose to participate.  Here are a few snapshots I was able to grab just to give you a sample of the days activities.
